Ratpack Interview
When did you first start DJ’ing and how did it all begin?
We Started as Ratpack in 1985, when Evenson was a DJ and Mark was a Human Beat Box. We both worked for a Sound System called Locomotion Soul Sound, not long after that we formed Ratpack
Best gig of all time, either as DJ / punter, and why?
There's been too many to single out just one but I did enjoy Ministry of Sound at the Millenium Dome on NYE 2001, also Donigton Park Fantazia 1992 will always be up there as the Woodstock of raves in the UK.
Which are you best three clubbing cities / countries worldwide, and why?
Ibiza (no explaination needed) UK (There's no place like home) I also like Italy too. We've done some great parties there, the venues, people and style were on another level
What does the Ministry of Sound brand say to you?
Quality Venue, Quality DJ/PA's and Quality Music.
Give us your first impressions of the Ministry of Sound Red Sea venue?
Wow!!! I love this Place. lol Beautiful venue and a great team running the show.
With Ministry of Sound Red Sea and Hed Kandi Beach Bar both running successfully in Hurghada, Egypt – do you think we could be talking about a serious clubbing destination, either at present or in the near future?
If so what else is required? Indeed it can be. Ministry and Hed Kandi both make it work really well, and if other organisations get out there too, it has all the makings of a great clubbing destination.
What was the team at Ministry of Sound Red Sea like?
The whole team were superb!!! (although, they need to work on their pool playing lol). They made us feel so welcome and looked after us all the way. I can't stress that enough about everyone, you were all so good to us. Thank you.
How was the actual club-night you played at?
We had a great night. Lots of people came to see us and danced their little legs off. The Egyptian people were really cool too. We met some really nice people. They seemed to be having fun and enjoyed what we do. It will be up there from now on when asked about favourite parties. The dancers were awesome too, they have to get a mention!!!
What tunes got the biggest reactions on the night?
Er...all the Ratpack ones. lol
How did the crowd differ from the normal clientele?
Their response, musical preferences etc? It was like a concert at times. People were interacting, singing along to the words, clapping and making noise. Blowing whistles and horns and looking good too. A really good crowd.
What other events and projects are in the pipeline for you in the near future?
We've got a few projects in the studio we're working on, for our album, which we hope to have completed by the summer. Also we have our 21st Birthday tour which we'll be taking around most of the clubs in the UK and also different venues around the world.
