Kid Creole is the first and only house music DJ of the UK’s finest DJ and entertainment team…The Hott2Deff Squad. “It is a cliché”, laughs Kid Creole “But it did all actually start in the bedroom”, teaching himself how to mix one track into another but after two years of perfecting his new found art, at the tender age of 16 his true journey started.

His first residency was at Trinity’s Bar playing alongside fellow Hott2Deff protégé Junior J & Jay Grooves as a three-man strong DJ team in his home city of Stoke-on-Trent.

There were many DJ influences around his area due to one of the biggest dance music events of its era (“Golden”) being held week-in week-out at the Void Nightclub. DJs such as Roger Sanchez, Eric Morillo and Carl Cox were regular features at these events with Kid Creole following close behind as a fan in awe. Creole’s musical influences are vast however, ranging from reggae and soca to garage and r&b - there are many sounds that have eventually shaped his eccentric sound.

After passing through many different and interesting residencies teaching the Kid the ins and outs of the entertainments trade, he is now finally starting to progress into the hierarchy of the DJ world by recently agreeing to a residency deal with the worlds first Hed Kandi Beach Bar in association with Ministry of Sound in Egypt.

The Kid’s sound is a smooth and sexy one, with a soulful and gospel twist, which is a sound, not heard enough in Kid’s opinion due to the large influx of people jumping on the band wagon of the “funky house” sound. “It’s the soul that makes house music”, explains Kid. To keep the new flavours exciting and the crowd on their feet he likes to blend the classics into his modern and diverse sets, which are always a real crowd pleaser!

2008 is the next big step for Kid Creole so don’t just watch this space to see what happens, be a part of it.
