DJ Judge Jules Interview
When did you first start DJ'ing and how did it all begin?
I started via promoting my own parties, mainly illegal, in North London in the late 80s.
Best gig of all time, either as DJ / punter, and why?
I guess the Millennium NYE and my gig in front of the Pyramids near Cairo would be be my most memorable.
Which are you best three clubbing cities / countries worldwide, and why?
London, Los Angeles, Singapore. Very well developed scenes, lots of events, big range of music styles.
What does the Ministry of Sound brand say to you?
The best known global dance music icon.
Give us your first impressions of the Ministry of Sound Red Sea venue?
One of the best locations I visited in 07, and I played a lot!
With Ministry of Sound Red Sea and Hed Kandi Beach Bar both running successfully in Hurghada, Egypt do you think we could be talking about a serious clubbing destination, either at present or in the near future? If so what else is required?
I wasn't there for long enough, nor did I explore enough different locations, but Hurghada is definitely onto a good thing with the MoS.
What was the team at Ministry of Sound Red Sea like?
Friendly and accommodating.
How was the actual club-night you played at?
Really enjoyed- a great balance of locals and internationals, all of whom reacted excellently to every track.
What tunes got the biggest reactions on the night?
I guess my current single "Laid Bare" came close to the top of the stack.
How did the crowd differ from the normal clientele? Their response, musical preferences etc?
As good as any I've played to in a long time.
What other events and projects are in the pipeline for you in the near future?
New artist album due midway through the year, plus a new mix album and the return of my Ibiza club night Judgement Sundays.
