DJ John-E Jay’s early influences came via the A-list team of stars like Tong, Jules et al courtesy of the global dance music phenomenon that is Radio 1... Shortly afterwards John-E purchased his first tunes and turntables at the age of 17, toying with styles and samples in the bedroom to perfect his sound.

Landing his first ‘proper’ gig at one of the renowned bars in Worcester at the age of 18, he started out playing trance and hard house till the very early hours of the morning!

Around this time Jay was making regular guest DJ slots around the city and secured his first club event at Torch (now Bamboo). Not long after John-E Jay was sought out to headline at the city’s biggest nightclub, Tramps, playing anything up to five key sets per week.

By the end of the first year, Jay was heading-up the ‘Main Room’ and was finally given the two most popular nights (playing to crowds in excess of 2000 clubbers) and headlining some of the major parties alongside many big name DJs.

Spinning with artists like Judge Jules, DJ Spoony, Boy George, and Lisa Lashes (both at Bamboo), John also played with the Miss Moneypenny’s crew at an extra special club-tour night. During this time he joined the club’s management team as Promotions Manager and worked directly alongside many established names in the business.

A few years ago, Jay decided to challenge himself on the production side of the business and acquired Ableton Live and proceeded to dabble. After only a couple of months a deal with Anne’s Savage Trax whereby Savage artist Kevin Jon got two tracks reworked by John-E Jay, both of which got full releases whilst up against the likes of The Wideboys, Jason Nevins and 7th Heaven.

Summer 2008 has seen dance-music giants Ministry of Sound and Hed Kandi Egypt seek to secure John-E Jay as their latest in-house resident to rock the Red Sea coastline.
